SnapShot
Drone-based site inspection tools for real estate and insurance.
The problem
Inspecting a roof or a damaged property still means ladders, risk and days of waiting before an insurance claim can move forward. Adjusters climb onto unstable surfaces, take photos by hand and write reports that vary from person to person. After major storms, demand overwhelms available inspectors, leaving homeowners waiting weeks for help. The process is slow, dangerous and inconsistent at exactly the moment people need speed.
Why now
Severe weather events are becoming more frequent and more costly, overwhelming traditional inspection processes. Insurers face pressure to settle claims faster while controlling costs and reducing fraud. Drone regulations have matured, making commercial flights routine, and computer vision can now identify roof damage consistently. Adjusters themselves are retiring faster than new ones are trained. SnapShot arrived when insurers needed to scale inspections quickly and when the technology finally made safe, standardised remote inspections practical.
The founders
Ben Carter worked as a claims adjuster for years and climbed thousands of roofs before deciding there had to be a better way. Amara Singh built computer vision systems for satellite imagery, analysing roofs and buildings from far above. They met at an insurance technology event and realised that drones could combine the detail of a ladder inspection with the consistency of automated analysis.
Why we invested
Aria led our Series A because SnapShot turned a dangerous, slow inspection into a ten-minute drone flight with a standardised report attached. The product was easy enough for field staff to use with minimal training, and the reports were consistent enough for insurers to rely on them for claims decisions. Early customers saw cycle times drop dramatically after storms. Aria was impressed by how deeply the founders understood the insurance workflow, not just the technology.
How we helped
After investing, we helped SnapShot build partnerships with regional insurers and property management companies across the Southeast. Aria worked with the founders on a storm-response program that pre-positions pilots before hurricane season. Our platform team supported them in navigating aviation regulations across states and introduced them to roofing contractors who now use SnapShot reports to provide faster repair estimates.
Where they are now
SnapShot now handles inspections for insurers and property managers across the Southeast, especially after storms when speed matters most. Customers report faster claims, fewer injuries and more consistent reports. The company recently launched automated damage estimates that help adjusters approve straightforward claims on the same day. Ben still flies inspections himself after every major storm, alongside the teams he built. For homeowners waiting after a storm, those saved days often matter more than anything else.
